Encourage a love of music as music is a wonderful way to help with stress as a way of relaxation.

Give the child access to a saucepan and wooden spoon or other kitchen paraphernalia that are safe.

Implements that are kept in a special place in the kitchen to be use for percussion, (tapping sticks, tubes etc.)

Pick you child up and dance with them.

Group music lessons can be fun and children often pick up music skill quickly if you start at about 4-5 years.

Use everyday activities such as going to school as an oppurtunity to play games such as 'I Spy' to help with sounds.

Encourage children to play board games. Board games can teach children a range of skills such as counting and word buidling.

A chalkboard is an ideal way to help children practice drawing and writing skills

Provide children with a variety of simple toys and NOT and overwhelming amount of elaborate, expensive ones. Pack things away and rotate them so children can manage to tidy their toys away with very little help.

Save old cardboard boxes in order to build castles and other imaginary play areas.
